Antiphon:

Yahweh is my light and my salvation.

God,You are my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
You are the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear;
though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

One thing have I asked of You, Yahweh, this I seek:
to dwell in Your house all the days of my life,
to behold Your beauty and to contemplate Your temple.

For You will hide me in Your shelter,
in the day of trouble you will conceal me
under the cover of Your tent
and will set me high upon a rock..

Hear me when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!

The Word: Mark 10:35-40

Zebedee's sons, James and John approached Him.
"Teacher", they said,"We want you to grant our request."
"What is it?" He asked.
They replied: "See to it that we sit, one at your right and the other at your left
when You come into your glory."
Jesus told them: "You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the cup I shall drink
or be baptized in the same bath of pain as I?"
"We can," they told him.
Jesus said in response,
"From the cup I drink of, you shall drink;
the bath I am immersed in you shall share.

"But as for sitting at my right or my left,
that is not mine to give;
it is for those for whom it has been reserved."

For Reflection

"What is it you want me to do for you?"

Prayer Loving God, I entrust my whole life to Your loving care. Please be in my life today with Your light and Your love.
