Thursday Morning

cottage in the woods Call To Prayer

God of Life,
as morning comes, I thank You
for calling me to be Your disciple.

Psalm

Antiphon:

At daybreak, be merciful to me, O God.

My God, You fathom my heart and You know me,
My God, You know where I am, where I go.

I am known by You, to the core, to my soul.

Nothing in me was hidden from Your eyes
when I was fashioned in deepest secrecy,
beautifully twined in the womb of the earth.

Fathom my heart, O God, and know me.
Test me and know what is happening in me.
I shall not come to a dead end, shall I?
Lead me forward on the way of my ancestors.

--Psalm 139

The Word: Luke 10:25-28

On one occasion a lawyer stood up to pose him this problem:
"Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?"

Jesus answered him:
"What is written in the law? How do you read it?"

He replied:
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your strength, and with all your mind,
and your neighbor as yourself."

For Reflection

When and where have I experienced "life" in living out this commandment?

path for the day

Prayer

Blessed be God forever.
As I begin this day,
may I bring Your presence within me
as life for those I meet.
