The Passionists in Africa, page four

Serengeti Plain

African Passionists are young, although some are entering now on middle age. They can be a resource for pastoral endeavors of all kinds. The challenge is to provide them with ongoing formation and to help them relate to other entities of the Congregation.

For example, Africans can bring gifts to the dialogue that is taking place now throughout the world on the environment and creation spirituality. African Passionists have resources to dedicate to these areas, because they have a tradition of respect for the forces of nature and the interplay of the divine in human societies. They could enrich the theological development that has begun in the western world.

As the number of native Passionists grows in Africa we can expect to meet new forms of Passionist prayer, worship, living, working, and leading, that inevitably will arise from African soil.
