retreat in time of sorrow

Meditation, continued

It may be a single phrase, a sentence, or an image that we find in Scripture that fills us with confidence. You may have a favorite passage. Hold on to its meaning. If you don't have a favorite passage, here are some you may find helpful. In meditating on them, look on them as personal messages to you as you get ready to resume your journey.

Jesus said:

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you, abide in my love. John15:9

I am the Good Shepherd. the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. John 10:11

How often have I desired to gather your children as a hen gathers her brood under her wing, and you were not willing. Matthew 23:37

Even the hairs of your head are all counted. Do not be afraid. Luke 12:7

Why are you afraid, you of little faith. Matthew 8:26

So I say to you, Ask and it will be given you; search and you will find: knock, and the door will be opened for you. Luke 11:9

No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for one's friends. You are my friends. John 15:13

And from the Old Testament:

"Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen You, I will help you." Isaiah 41:10

SeasonsGod is with us, God loves us. He holds us in the palm of his hand. Of this we must constantly remind ourselves. God is love and his love is beyond our ability to grasp. All we can do is say "Thank you, God, I believe".

And it is all in the rhythm of nature:

For everything there is a season, and a time
For every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up
what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down and a time to build up;
A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
(Ecclesiastes 3:2ff)

It is all part of the journey to our heavenly home:
"All things work together for those who love God," Romans 8:28.
